| | The more we travel to different places, the more we see the sameness of man. We love the same way, we make love the same way, we adore our children the same way, we play, we juggle, we struggle, we laugh, we cry, we live and we die the same way. Life is life, regardless of the place. You may see soccer balls instead of baseballs, but the joy behind it is the same. This planet of ours is truly a Garden of Eden. The tragedy is that we have not treated it with the respect it requires and deserves. Sadly, the promise and the potential of man may never be realized. | | Carol and I are so thankful that we have had the opportunities to tour different parts of the Garden. As scuba divers we have also had the privilege to experience the beauty and wonder of the underwater parts of the Garden. The beauty of this place we just happen to call Earth is staggering, yet the tragedy of our mistreatment of it, and the suffering that man continues to inflict upon his brother, is more staggering. The hope is that we wake up, globally, collectively, before the sands of time have run out forever. It occurs to us that so many of the world's monuments are erected to remind us of battles won and lives lost. A hero is someone who has sacrificed his life for "God and for country." Where are our priorities? Why are our values so oriented in blood? | | | | We are the spores and seeds of some primordial energy and we have dispersed and now pervade every corner of the Garden. As such, we have much more in commonality than in differences; in fact we may have more in common with other seeds and spores scattered throughout the stars. There must be other Gardens spinning around suns like ours. Gardens of Delight, like ours. How presumptuous to imagine that ours in unique. | | | | We live on an incredible island in space, a veritable Garden of Eden. Carol and I do realize how very fortunate we are to have had opportunities to explore various corners, nooks and crannies of our Garden, and we pray that somehow, as one people, as the caretakers of the Garden, we manage to preserve and protect it for those generations of "strollers" yet to come. And, yes, we are already planning the next chapter of Our Magnificent Journey... | | | May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. traditional gaelic blessing
