Another snug and comfortable night’s sleep.
Our hotel – The Hotel – is great.
Large room, soft king-sized bed, best shower yet on this
trip, and terrific views from the two top-level decks.
We walked one block north to Ocean Drive and
enjoyed breakfast at News Café as we watched the early risers
strolling, jogging and riding bikes in the morning breeze.
We decided to walk to the beach to look for sea
shells. On the horizon
several container ships waited their turn into Miami harbor.
Carol then spent thirty minutes in the Art Deco
Museum on Ocean Drive as I people-watched from the shade of a banyon
tree and enjoyed the balmy trade wind breezes.

When Carol exited the museum we walked across
Ocean Drive and stopped once again at News Café for sodas and rest.
Then we walked around the corner and up one
block to Collins Avenue, walked into our hotel and took the elevator
up to the top floor and lounged in the shade near the rooftop pool
overlooking the ocean and much of South Beach with its
pastel-colored art-deco hotels and restaurants.
We enjoyed sipping pina coladas and I savored a delicious
Cohiba Robusto as we relaxed on comfortable cushioned couches and
read ebooks on our iPads as the gentle trade winds rustled the
fronds of nearby palm trees.
At 4PM we went down to our room on the third
floor and rested until 6PM, when we walked down 8th
Street to Ocean Drive and sat again at News Café and enjoyed a
Mediterranean platter and sangria as we watched the endless parade
of humanity flow by.
By 8PM we were back in our room packing for
tomorrow’s flight to Dallas and then on to Tucson.
By 9PM we were already dreaming of the past two weeks’
incredible adventures.
