Woke at 9 am after another sound night’s sleep. Finished packing, showered, dressed and grabbed a last quick breakfast at the hotel.

Caught a taxi to neary Jorge Newbery Airport for our flight to Iguazu. Met two charming young Swiss girls in the check-in line and then waited in a lounge as Carol sipped cappuccino.

Our impressions of Buenos Aires are mostly positive. It is a large, proud, grand cosmopolitan city with a very distinctive European flavor. There is much graffiti (some of it is exceptional) and a lot of trash on the sidewalks and in the streets. The people are very warm, friendly and helpful. They are very fond of their dogs – always a plus for us. We very much enjoyed our four-day stay here and we hope to return.

The river that separates Argentina and Uruguay – Rio de La Plata which feeds into the Rio Uruguay - is the widest river we’ve ever seen. The far shore cannot be seen.

The one-hour flight north from Buenos Aires to Iguazu was smooth and pleasant. We landed at around 3 pm. We are surrounded by lush green jungle and temperatures in the 80’s. Shared a taxi with our young Swiss friends to our hotel – the Grand Crucero – in Puerto Iguazu. Our room on the 6 th floor is large and clean. We settled in and rested for a bit.

In the early evening we walked out of the hotel and towards the main part of Puerto Iguazu. Window shopped for a while and then wandered back towards the hotel, stopping at a local mall and restaurant for pizza, salmon and delicious grilled vegetables.

Back at the hotel at 8 pm we sat in the bar and schmoozed over drinks with Raphael, our very personable bartender.

By 9 pm we were in bed, resting up for tomorrow’s adventure at Iguazu Falls.
